Character InformationName: Stuart Harold Pot (AKA 2D)
Canon Origin/Series: The Gorillaz
School Year: Fifth
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Out of school living location: Crawley, England
Blood status: Muggleborn
Personality:Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett once commented that 2D has a blank sheet of paper where a brain should be. He's pretty much stereotypical vacant eyed pretty boy, the sort of person who goes wherever they're nudged without putting much thought into it. He's very similar to the zombies he loves so much, just without the craving for brains. Not that he's stupid, he's just sort of operating on another plane of existence. His awareness of the world around him is minimal, but he is prone to odd, non-sequitor moments, along with a compulsion towards graffiti art. Say what you will about his intelligence, but three is no argument regarding the vastness of his creativity.
On top of this, he is really a kind, gentle soul, harboring little to no ill will to those who wrong him. He shrugs it off like water off the back of a duck, and would probably even speak on their behalf, if asked. This might largely be due to the painkillers he's perpetually on, as much later on, he starts getting snippy with Murdoc, the biggest of his demons, but early in their career, he sort of idolizes him, even though he constantly beats him. Murdoc is probably the one person who doesn't get along with him, though it's really hard to say why the bassist doesn't like him. Likely, it's because he's full of anger management issues, and 2D is an easy, unresisting target. He's very fond of Noodle, treating her much like a little sister, though in turn, she treats him like a younger brother.
He's never been known in canon to be off his painkillers, so it's hard to say what his personality would be like without them. Likely, he would be crabby and snippy, as anyone with a pounding migraine would be prone to be.
Canon Background: Wiki LinkBackground (AU!Canon; HP): The first few years of Stuart's life remain mostly the same. He was just a normal, if spacey, little boy living in England, with nothing particularly interesting happening to him, aside from the occasional bully. The first sign of magic he ever demonstrated occurred when he was ten, and fell out of a tree, hitting his head. He mostly fine, but oddly enough, the bonk on the head made all his hair fall out, and when it grew back, it was blue - and it's stayed blue ever since. Furthermore, from then on, odd things started happening to him any time he got a headache, and they came frequently. His mother, a nurse, would often bring home pain killers in an attempt to relieve his suffering.
This lasted right up until he was eleven, when the most extraordinary thing happened of all; he got his acceptance letter to Hogwarts. At first, his completely muggle parents thought it was a joke, but as the instances surrounding the Stu's headaches became more and more fantastic, and harder to keep under control the closer to the beginning of the school year came, they gave in and took a look into this strange wizarding school. For his part, he thought the idea of being a wizard was pretty damn cool, so from the moment his parents told him Hogwarts was real and he was going, he was an excited ball of energy, and his headaches reduced in power and frequency.
It lasted right up until half-way through the train ride, an older boy named Murdoc Niccals burst into his car, took one look at him, and decided to make the rest of his life miserable. Not that it dimmed his excitement very much, since he'd always sort of attracted bullies, being smaller, with funny hair, and Murdoc's treatment of him wasn't that much different than the one he'd gotten back home. It was the standard sort of bullying, name calling, getting shoved into walls, being taken advantage of, that sort thing, with the odd hex or curse thrown in for laughs.
Things took a turn for the worse, however, thanks to a rather "coincidental" Quidditch accident. A bludger, batted in his direction by Murdoc, struck him square in the face, knocking him unconscious. Luckily, he was only in the stands, so he didn't fall too far, but the blow still resulted in an 8-ball fracture in his right eye. His headaches, having been kept down by the pain medicine his mother sent him through post, developed into full-blown migraines at this point, and the muggle medicine was no longer enough to tame them, and oddly, no magical means seemed fit to soothe them either. It left him mostly bedridden for several months, with Murdoc forced to help him muddle through classes. On one particularly good day, he managed to make it outside for a walk, ending up close to the Quidditch pitch in his meanderings, where Murdoc and his team happened to be practicing. "Coincidentally," he got hit in the face with a bludger again. He left eye met a similar fate to the right, but thankfully, no further damage was incurred. In fact, if anything, his migraines were reduced. He still required medicine to keep them in check, which left him a little loopy, but since the incident, they've been manageable, and with a lot of help (a LOT) and effort, Stuart was able to catch up in his classes and finish out the term with the rest of his class. He seems to see just fine, despite his injuries, without any outside magic but his own.
Nothing notable has happened since then, aside from a few minor incidents that typically happen in a school that teaches magic.
Stuart's wand is a nice, swishy 12 3/4 inch Larch wood wand, with a Phoenix feather core. He's not particularly good in any subject, but does decently in all subjects despite any noticeable interest or ambition.
How would your character fit in to each House?Gryffindor:Stu isn't really much of a dynamic character. Sure, in canon he is the lead singer of a world famous rock and roll band, but he's not really the Frontman - that's Murdoc. His job is mostly to stand there and look/sing pretty. He does occasionally stand up for himself, but those moments are few and far between, and usually end with him getting his arse beat.
Hufflepuff:The Hufflepuff house is largely regarded as the place for misfits, and Stuart certainly is the sort of puzzle piece that doesn't quite fit anywhere else. Not dynamic enough for Gryffindor, not smart enough for Ravenclaw, not ambitious enough for Slytherin. But at least he is loyal! To a fault, really, as he follows Murdoc around for nearly ten years, despite the bassist's awful treatment. He's very tolerant in the way, too, taking punches and beatings and all sorts of abuse with very little complaint.
Ravenclaw:This would probably be the last place anyone would put Stuart if they'd only just met him. He's very easily confused, and unaware of his surroundings most of the time, and it shows in his usually vacant expression. Despite this, Stuart is very creative, enjoying things that are strange and unusual, with a very strong musical talent. He plays three insturments, the banjo, guitar, and keyboard/synthesizer/piano and in canon, he created a whole album on his own, full of haunting refrains and melancholy lyrics. In this sense, he could fit as a genius ditz, with heavy, heavy emphasis on the ditz.
Slytherin:Slytherins are leaders, ambitious people with big plans and all the drive to see them through. Stuart is about as directionless as a broken compass. He utterly lacks any sort of ambition or leadership skills, and he sure isn't aware of himself enough to be anything close to cunning.
